Situation: Upgrades Needed for 70+ Big Box Stores

A leading big box specialty retailer of home décor products recently decided to re-look at its current intrusion detection and fire alarm systems. As with many big box stores, its locations average over 100,000 square feet in size and offer tens of thousands of items across product categories. This retailer operates more than 70 locations across a number of states.

Securing locations of that size can present a number of challenges so the retailer opted to look beyond its current provider as it explored upgrades to its security systems and new installations as it continued to grow.

The company was looking for a security solutions provider that offered the latest in technology, possessed the knowledge and experience to design complex, large systems particularly as it relates to the fire side, and most importantly, a partner that offered a high level of customer service and responsiveness.

Our Solution: Chain-Wide Installation and Support

As part of the review process, Protection 1 was called on to provide bids on the project. Because of the size of the stores and the scope of each project, Protection 1 engaged its National Account Operations Center (NAOC) in Irving, TX to architect a comprehensive fire alarm system for this retailer. The NAOC is dedicated to the support of Protection 1’s large enterprise customers. It specializes in the design and implementation of complex integrated solutions.

After presenting an approach, backed by the expertise that its NAOC brought to the table, Protection 1 was awarded a chain-wide contract to upgrade all existing locations and install new systems at future sites. In addition to designing and installing the new systems, Protection 1 will provide monitoring for the intrusion and fire alarm systems, perform annual fire inspections and maintenance and service.

The retailer will also use Protection 1’s eSuite℠ solution, its online data management portal, to manage security data for all stores, including view open/close schedules and reports, viewing incidents and alarm activity and running custom exception reports.

Bottom Line Result: Heightened Security and Customer Service

This new intrusion detection and fire alarm systems are now in place across this retailers’ footprint. Monitoring, inspections and maintenance and service are now being handled by Protection 1. The retail company now enjoys a heightened level of safety and security for its associates and guests while experiencing the high level of customer service and responsiveness along with expertise in the large, comprehensive fire design capabilities that Protection 1 provides.
