What Technology Is Inside My Home Automation?

With the myriad of “smart” home automation products coming out lately, it can be confusing to find out exactly what technology is in the home automation product you’re using and what it does. A few questions may have come up while reading that last sentence – namely, what is Z-wave, and what devices could I control remotely?

Z-wave is a technology that allows electronics to wirelessly communicate with each other. In this case, it’s allowing your phone, computer, tablet, or other web-enabled device to talk to your home automation product. Your device can instruct your home automation product to turn on, turn off, provide you with information, or perform other functions. Some of the home automation products offered by Protection 1 that contain Z-Wave technology are smart lights, thermostats, security cameras, automatic locks, and garage door alarms.
